Hello, my name is James Brown. I was raised in a good Christian home by parents who knew the importance of Church in a young child's life. My family has been a member of South Center Baptist Church for over 30 years, and I was born and brought up in that Church. I have seen the Church go through a few changes in the Pastorate (Buckingham, Hess, Racioppa), and I have also seen our church go through a split. I have also seen it grow and flourish and truly be used of God. At the young age of 6, my family and I were on our way to church on a Wednesday night in December, and I was asking questions about getting saved. That night I walked down the aisle, and I asked Jesus to come into my heart and save me from my sins. Throughout my years at South Center, I have had the opportunity to preach, teach Sunday School, and begin a Men's Prayer Breakfast. I also have been the church's audio/video technician for the last 15 years. I felt the call of God on my life to be a missionary to Australia at the age of 12, and I surrendered my life to the mission field at the age of 14. After high school, I went to college, earned a Bacherlor's degree, and prepared myself for the work of being a missionary in a foreign country. I am a believer that the KJV is the truly inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. It is what I preach from, study from and use exclusively.
My wife and I are excited about what God has in store for us as we prepare to go to the mission field, and the challenges that may lie ahead. We were officially approved as World Baptist Fellowship Missionaries in August 2009, and are currently on the field serving in Blacktown, NSW, Australia.
I truly look forward to what God has in store for our lives and our ministry. I look forward to reaching the people of Australia for the cause of Christ, and I look forward to what God will do not only through me, but through our ministry. I always will remember and live by what Isaiah 6:8 says "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me."
My name is Melissa (Hall) Brown. I am thankful that God allowed me to be raised in a Christian home. My father, Dr. Gary Hall, was and is an independent Baptist pastor (currently ministering at the New Life Baptist Church in Yorktown, TX), and my mom, Natalie Hall, is a registered nurse. Both of my parents are amazing people with tremendous callings, and I always felt surrounded by church and things related to church life and giving to other people. At nearly six years old, I was listening to a sermon about hell one Sunday morning when I realized that my sin would send me there and that only Jesus’ death on the cross could save me from that penalty. During the invitation, I asked my mom if I could go up and get saved. It was then that I accepted Christ as my Savior and have moved towards His will and purpose for my life ever since. My father has been in the ministry for over twenty-five years, and growing up in his house enabled me to experience nearly every aspect to the church that exists today. From janitor to music director, I have served in every aspect of the local church, save the pastorate itself. I have seen a church start; I have been through a church split, and I have witnessed every kind of person along the way. God has allowed me to teach nearly every level of Sunday School classes as well as lead in women’s Bible studies and home study groups. Additionally, after high school, I went to college and become a high school English teacher. I have worked in the trenches of the Texas public school system for the past six years, learning more than I could ever have imagined about those who are in the world who need Christ so desperately, what they need from Him, and what they need from us as ministers in their worlds.
I met Jamie at the age of 23 when I moved to Arlington, TX, to complete my college degree at UT Arlington. God led me to South Center Baptist Church (amazingly enough, the same church in which my parents first met over 25 years prior), and I was working in the Sunday School program within a couple months of membership. Since then, I have taken on the music directorship of the church’s youth group and actively participate in the choir as well as other programs in the church. Jamie and I were friends for several years before God led towards marriage, but He was quite clear about His plans for us when the time was right. We were married in 2008 and have been working together towards God’s call to foreign missions ever since.
In every single way, God has shaped and molded my heart and my life for a position of full-time Christian service. I feel immense excitement when I think about what God has in store for our ministry in Australia, and I know that God has prepared me to go and do and be what He needs me to be. I pray that God will use me; I pray that God allows me to do something that brings Him glory, and I pray that you will find the path of service that He has for you as well. Only in His will can a soul find perfect peace!!!
